Grace and Eric had a really fun wedding at the Bordone. It was highlighted by greenery and red lanterns hanging from the ceiling. They had a very unique photo booth backdrop. And a friend performed the music for their ceremony and first dance. Ben Boylan was their DJ. He was so happy with the amount of dancing that took place that night.

A wedding at the bordone in LIC
The Bordone is an amazing venue. It is a loft space with a large outdoor space. The whole thing is white so you can decorate it in any way you choose. There is a huge patio overlooking beautiful city views. It is a great venue for someone with imagination who loves views.
Grace and Eric had their wedding on the third floor of the Bordone. They had their ceremony outside and their reception inside.
Wedding ceremony
It was a bit hot on that day. Their guests waited in the air-conditioned inside before the ceremony started. Once everyone was seated outside, Ben played the first processional song for the wedding party. It was from "The Ground Up" by Travis Atreo.
Ben provided David with two microphones. One for him to sing with and the other on his guitar. Once the wedding party had completed their entrance, David started playing "1000 hours" by Dan and Shay. Grace looked beautiful as she entered to that song. And David sounded great.
The officiant Anthony, was a close friend of Grace and Eric‘s. We provided a mic stand and microphone for him. He sounded clear and everyone on the roof patio heard every word.
A highlight of the ceremony was when a few tears started to fall, one of the grandmothers stood up, and approached the couple with some tissues. It was cute and hilarious at the same time.
Once the ceremony had completed, Ben played "You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC. The couple had chosen this song and it was a funny and lively way to end their beautiful ceremony.
Cocktail hour was outside. Because of the heat many guests went inside. The couple had chosen music in the style of Jason Mraz and Amos Lee. Ben crafted a playlist with songs by those artists and ones that were very similar. The music was playing inside and outside for guests to enjoy.
digital photo booth for nyc weddings
At this point, many of the guests discovered the digital photo booth Grace and Eric had rented from us. Non-Traditional Wedding DJs has a great digital photo booth. It sends the photo to your phone via email and text. All photos taken are saved to the cloud. An online gallery of them is sent to you after the wedding.
Grace and Eric had picked a really cool sign for their photo booth backdrop. One of their last names was Lin and the other one was Ling. So the sign was their last name Ling but the G was flashing and then not flashing. It was going from one name to the other. It was really cool.
dinner, speeches & dances
Once cocktail hour ended, guests were all seated inside for dinner. Grace and Eric had a formal introduction with six pairs from their wedding party. They chose "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" by The Darkness to be played as their wedding party entered. For their entrance, the couple chose "Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede." Everyone was on their feet clapping and screaming as they came in the room.
When they reached the middle of the dance floor, their friend David was seated there with his guitar. Once again, Ben had provided two mics for him. One for him to sing into and the other positioned at the height of his guitar. David played an original song as Grace and Eric did their first dance.
After the first dance, Eric‘s mom joined him as Ben started Billy Joel‘s "Vienna." They shortened it to about 1 1/2 minutes. After they were done, Ben invited all guests to the dance floor to join the couple for a short 15 minute dance set before the food was served.
For that first dance set, Ben played songs from genres the couple had asked for in their music questionnaire. He started out with 80s and 90s wedding classics. Then he played a little rock and hip-hop before it was time for dinner.
uplighting for nyc weddings
Grace and Eric had booked our uplights. Non-Traditional Wedding DJs has a great up lighting package. They chose to use them in a typical way. During dinner they were set to amber which is basically gold. They warmed up the room and made their photos look great. After dinner we changed them to flashing colored lights to give a club feel. It was really fun and the guests loved them.
Once the first course was served there were two toasts. The first toast was from Grace's maids of honor. There were two of them. Each one stood on one side of the couple's table. Ben provided each one of them with a handheld wireless mic. Their toast was really funny and made for some great photos.
The second toast was from Eric‘s best man. It was a really sweet toast and everyone was crying, including Ben.
dance set
After the main course was served and finished, Ben opened up the dance floor again. All guests hit the dance floor. There was an incredible amount of dancing at this wedding! From that first dance set to the dancing after dinner. It was just wild all night.
The couple had asked for wedding classics, 90s and 2000s rock, boy bands, 2000s hip-hop, R&B and reggae, 2000 and 2010s pop, emo rock and current hip-hop and pop music. They also gave a short list of 17 must play songs. Ben was happy to play all of them.
For the last song of the night, Grace and Eric chose "The Great Escape" by Boys like Girls. The dance floor was still full. It stayed that way until the last note of the song.
Thank you Grace and Eric for letting us be part of your
